  153.   Before reporting any problems to Winamp Support, please check for your
  154. problem here first and try any potential solutions. 
  155.

  157.       Problem:     I can't figure out how to decode to .WAV file!
  158.       Diagnosis:    You didn't look good enough :)
  159.       Solution:        Go to Preferences/Audio IO,
  160.             and select 'Nullsoft Disk Writer' plug-in.
  161.             Hit configure, and specify the .WAV output directory!
  162.     ------------------------------------------------------
  163.       Problem:     Output skips or jerks when scrolling windows in other 
  164.             applications.
  165.       Diagnosis:    Videocard is stealing bus bandwidth from soundcard.
  166.       Solution:        Read http://www.winamp.com/docs/vgakills.txt

  168.       Problem:     MP3 output crashes NT4SP3 with a nice Blue Screen of 
  169.             Death regularly (it is likely you are using a 
  170.             Creative Labs card).
  171.       Diagnosis:    Buggy soundcard driver 
  172.       Solution:        Disable 'seperate buffering thread' in
  173.             Preferences/Audio IO/Nullsoft WaveOut/<configure>. If 
  174.             this doesn't help, try different (older and newer) 
  175.             soundcard drivers.
  176.     ------------------------------------------------------
  177.       Problem:     MP3 output skips (on a slower machine)
  178.       Diagnosis:    Machine is too slow for default output modes
  179.       Solution:        Most of the time you can get acceptable output
  180.             by adjusting priorities of the input/output plug-ins in 
  181.             Preferences/Audio IO. Otherwise, go to 
  182.             Preferences/Audio IO/Nitrane MPEG and try: 
  183.             * Unchecking the 'stereo output' checkbox.
  184.             * Putting the decoder mode on 486 or another setting.
  185.             * Turning half or quarter downsampling on.
